Behold: Fluorescence! The Genes in Space-8 investigation saw the debut of the Genes in Space Fluorescence Viewer aboard the ISS. This simple but powerful tool allows users to easily see and study biomolecules that are usually invisible.
In the video below, a fluorescent dye is bound to double-stranded DNA. Raising temperature melts the strands apart and extinguishes fluorescence. Lowering temperature reverses the effect. (Sped up 1000x)
