Video: First DNA amplification in space
This as been a big week for DNA Amplification. The miniPCR thermal cycler was successfully tested by Astronaut Jeff Williams on April 18th aboard the International Space Station. Followed by Anna-Sophia Boguraev's experiment (2015 Genes in Space winner) conducted by Astronaut Tim Peake on April 19th.
Anna-Sophia's 2015 Genes in Space winning experiment explores whether epigenetic changes lead to immune suppression in astronauts. At the conclusion of the experiment, Astronaut Tim Peake sent this message to Anna-Sophia, "From everyone on board the International Space Station and all of us involved in Human Space flight, we thank you for your contributions and many congratulations"
